Source: McNabb open to playing in Buffalo, but wants to stay with Eagles

•February 11, 2010 • Leave a Comment

After rumors started to surface about the Bills having multiple talks with Eagles about McNabb we decided to dive deeper. Talking with a source within the Eagles organization (not in a front office role), McNabb is open to playing in Buffalo. But really wants to stay in Philadelphia. We asked our source to speak directly with the QB he said he didn’t have to.

“I know what he thinks about Buffalo. We’ve talked about it before. Recently in fact. He doesn’t like trade rumors, he wants to be an Eagle. If he gets a say, he remains an Eagle. But, talking to him about the teams being thrown out there he would be open to Buffalo. Like I said though, he wants to be an Eagle.”

We asked our source if McNabb would be able to get the Bills over the hump.

“Yes.”

Care to elaborate?

“He is a player. He will win wherever he goes.”

Source: Bills have their DC, will announce after Wednesday

•February 2, 2010 • Leave a Comment

We have spoken to a source who says that the Buffalo Bills “have their man” and the announcement would be made sometime in the second half of the week.

The source said quote,

“Chan decided on his man over a week ago. The announcement is taking longer than expected. I have no idea on the name, although it is a safe guess he is from the college ranks with ties to Gailey. It should become official Wednesday night or after that. I wouldn’t expect it to be made public before Wednesday.”

We pressed the source for more info, including potential names, he had none. But, when asked whether or not the Bills would make the switch to the 3-4 he told us this:

“In my opinion the switch in Buffalo would take at least two off seasons to complete. But, the way things have shaped up, it looks like Chan wants to make the switch. Whether he does or not is to be determined.”

When asked if Bob Sanders was a candidate:

“Yes, but if it does turn out to be Sanders, I still don’t think the announcement will be made until after Wednesday.”

“So don’t hold your breath.”

Nothing earth shattering here folks. However, we’ll be all over it when news does break of the new defensive coordinator.

Report: Bills hire Stan Hixon to be new WR coach

•January 29, 2010 • Leave a Comment

We reported last night that we heard from a source that ex-Washington Redskins wide receiver coach Stan Hixon would be joining the Buffalo Bills this season in the same position.

After contacting the source again, we were told he was “100%” certain that it was a done deal and Hixon had signed with Buffalo.

We were then provided with this LINK. Kelli Johnson of CSN Washington is reporting that “former Redskins receiver coach Stan Hixon had landed a job with the Bills to coach their wide receivers.”

So with that, it becomes official.

In other Bills news Bruce DeHaven will return to Buffalo to coach special teams. This will be his second stint with the franchise. His first, in the 90’s.

Rumor: Bills sign Stan Hixon to coach wide receivers

Ex-Washington wide receiver coach Stan Hixon may be in red and blue this season. We have heard from a respectable source that Hixon has officially been hired as the Buffalo Bills newest wide receiver coach.

This is unconfirmed.

UPDATE:

Here is Hixon’s bio, posted on a Redskins website: LINK

Rumor: Now Bob Sanders is a candidate?

•January 28, 2010 • Leave a Comment

It is being reported on multiple Buffalo Bills message boards that John Murphy (play by play voice of the Bills) has reported that Bob Sanders is a candidate for the defensive coordinator position.

He has been retained by the club as of today, but to an unknown position. A promotion is always a possibility.

It should become clearer within the next 48 hours.

Our hands are no longer tied: Here are the names we have been hearing for the Bills DC position

•January 27, 2010 • Leave a Comment

It was out of professional courtesy for our source that we did not disclose the information we have learned on the Bills’ defensive coordinator search.

We have been told it is alright to release said information as he has received no new leads and doesn’t mind the information getting out.

In a phone conversation with this source, I was told that the Buffalo Bills organization holds ex-Baltimore Ravens LB coach, Vic Fangio, in “high regard” for the position. What that means, we don’t know. But it is evident he is on Buffalo’s list.

The other information we have learned, since confirmed by Patrick Moran of Buffalo Sports Daily, is that new head coach Chan Gailey “covets” the 3-4 and intends on making the switch.

Then late last night we got another name. Clancy Pendergast, former Chiefs defensive coordinator. This from a separate source who said, “Clancy to Buffalo seems like the reality of the situation.”

“Pendergast is now a finalist for the job. I wouldn’t be surprised if he signed in the next 48 hours.”

Fangio and Pendergast’s names were also confirmed as being potential candidates by a well respected and well-connected member of billszone.com who will remain anonymous until he sees fit.

Rumors abound about the Buffalo defensive coordinator position

•January 27, 2010 • Leave a Comment

We reported a few days ago that Dean Pees was a finalist for the position. However he has since taken a position with Baltimore. The position was previously held by Vic Fangio. Fangio has experience in the 3-4 and an impressive resume as an assistant.

Many Bills fans have been speculating that he is the new Bills’ defensive coordinator due to Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh’s quote in which he said an announcement would be made about Fangio’s new job soon.

The Bills however are tight lipped. But we have heard one thing. Gailey covets the 3-4 and would love to see it run in Buffalo. Since his hiring he has been talking with the past staff and players, as well as watching film on his new team to determine whether or not the switch is possible.

Rumors are now coming out that Chan Gailey has hired Giff Smith to coach the outside linebackers. Adding fuel to the rumor fire that Buffalo will make the switch to the 3-4.

Patrick Moran of Buffalo sports daily, and respected member of several message boards,  reported today on billszone.com that quote, “RUMOR- Bills already have had “something in works” for DC”

Moran posted in that thread that he would post a full report once more information was available.

Here at insidethebuffalobills, we have a list of  name(s) that the Bills hold in high regard for the defensive coordinator position but out of professional courtesy to those involved, we will keep those names private for the moment.

Know that A. Don’t rule anyone out because they run the 4-3 or 3-4,

B. Gailey would rather have the 3-4 if it is possible.

C. A hiring should be made within the week.

Rumor: Gailey has offered to retain Bob Sanders

•January 23, 2010 • 1 Comment

I have heard through a source in Green Bay (who used to work close to Sanders with the Packers) who says that Gailey has spoken to former Bills’ defensive line coach Bob Sanders and has given him the opportunity to return to Buffalo.

Dean Pees to Buffalo?

•January 23, 2010 • Leave a Comment

That’s what we are hearing.

Former NE Patriot defensive coordinator Dean Pees is a finalist for the Bills’ job. Pro Football Talk is now reporting Pees has a job lined up.

Is that job Buffalo?

Former Bills runningback Thurman Thomas was first to report Gailey has staff

•January 20, 2010 • 1 Comment

Let’s give credit where credit is due. Thurman Thomas tweeted this story hours before I did.

I did not see it until it was pointed out to me.

So, I guess it just confirms that Gailey has a staff.

Here is the original tweet.

Just talked to Coach Gailey, he’s already got his coaching staff together. I cldnt get anything out of him. I have a meetin wit Buddy nx wk
